Same-Day Ceramic Crowns
A permanent ceramic crown designed, milled, and placed in one visit. You arrive with a damaged tooth and leave with a finished one.
A crown is a ceramic covering that restores a tooth that has cracked, worn down, or lost too much structure to hold a filling. With CEREC technology in our own office, the crown is made here, while you wait. There is no impression tray, no temporary crown to baby for three weeks, and no second appointment to fit it.
We scan the tooth digitally, design the crown on screen with you in the room, and mill it from a solid block of ceramic in our milling unit. It is then characterized, glazed, and bonded permanently in place the same afternoon. Because the design and the fit happen in one continuous session, the margins are precise and the shade is matched to the tooth beside it rather than to a chart.
You get your tooth back today. That matters practically, because a single visit means one round of anesthetic and one afternoon away from work. It also matters cosmetically, since a permanent ceramic crown looks and behaves far better than the temporary you would otherwise be wearing to dinner.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Same-Day Ceramic Crowns.
Anyone with a cracked or fractured tooth, a large old filling that is failing, a tooth that has had root canal therapy and needs protecting, or heavy wear from grinding. It is also a good option for patients who want to replace an older crown with a metal edge that has started to show at the gumline.
Comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Digital scanning replaces the putty impression entirely. You are numbed, the tooth is prepared and scanned, and then you have a break while the crown is milled. Many patients read, watch something on the ceiling-mounted screens, or step out for coffee before the fitting.
Most single-crown appointments run about two hours from start to finish, including the milling time. Two crowns in the same visit are usually possible. Compare that with the traditional route, which takes two appointments spread over two to three weeks.
Same-day ceramic is an excellent material for the vast majority of crowns, but a small number of cases are better served by a laboratory-fabricated restoration, particularly complex cosmetic cases across several front teeth. Dr. Amera will tell you honestly which route suits your tooth. Crowns are frequently covered in part by dental insurance, and we will verify your benefits beforehand.
You can eat once the anesthetic has fully worn off. Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal and settles on its own. The bite is checked and adjusted before you leave, but if anything feels high or catches over the following week, call us and we will refine it in minutes.
